Lord of tenderness and mercy,

Today we turn to You with humble and grateful hearts, to entrust to You our deceased brothers and sisters, those whom we have known and loved, and those whose names are unknown to us, but who are dear to Your heart.

In Your infinite wisdom, You have called them back to You, snatching them from earthly life to lead them into eternity. We pray to You for them, Lord, for they have gone to that place where we will find them again one day. May Your infinite love welcome them and fill them with Your peace.

Lord, grant them eternal rest,

And may endless light shine upon them.

We believe in Your promise of eternal life and we know that death is not the end, but a passage to You. Help us to soothe our grief with this hope, and give us the strength to continue our journey here on earth by remaining faithful to Your love.

We ask You, Lord, to forgive their faults, to blot out their sins and to cleanse their souls of all that might separate them from You. May they, by Your grace, enter into the fullness of Your kingdom and enjoy perfect communion with You and all the saints.

We pray for the souls still in purification,

Those who wait in Purgatory, purified by Your justice and sanctified by Your love. Come to meet them, Lord, through our prayers and through Your great mercy. May they find peace and joy in You after this time of trial. We offer You our love and our supplications to hasten their entrance into Your glory.

Lord, You who are full of compassion,

We also pray to You for the families and loved ones of those who have departed. Comfort those who weep, dry their tears and fill their hearts with Your hope. Teach us not to fear death, but to see it as a door that opens onto Your gracious presence.

May our faith in the resurrection

give us the strength to move forward in this world with confidence and serenity. May we live in communion with all those who have gone before us, awaiting the day when we shall all be reunited in Thy eternal home.

We entrust to Thee the departed who have no one to pray for them. Open for them the doors of Your forgiveness and Your love. May they find in You the fulfilment of their quest for peace and light.

Lord Jesus, You who died and rose again,

Make us live in Your presence, and keep us always in Your mercy. May we also, at the end of our own lives, be reunited with You and all our beloved ones, in Your eternal glory.

We pray to You in trust, Lord,

You who are the resurrection and the life,

You who promise those who believe in You that they will never die, but live forever in Your light.

This prayer is an invitation to peace and trust in God's love for the departed, a way of remaining united with them in faith and hope of resurrection.
