Who is Saint Christopher?
Saint Christopher is one of the best-known and most venerated saints in the Christian tradition, particularly in the West. His name comes from the Greek Christophoros, meaning "Christ-bearer". His story is shrouded in legend and tradition, as the accounts about him come to us mainly from popular piety and hagiographic traditions, rather than from accurate historical documents.He is thought to have lived in the third century, and some authors place his martyrdom under the emperors Decius or Maximin II. Despite the absence of direct archaeological evidence, his figure has left a profound mark on the Christian faith, above all through the image of the giant in the service of God.
