What is the role of Saint Christopher?

The very name Saint Christopher means "Christ-bearer". His legend tells that he was a man of immense stature, endowed with great strength. Seeking to place his abilities at the service of the most powerful of masters, he discovered that Christ was the only one worthy of such service. So he chose to help travellers cross a dangerous river, carrying them on his shoulders. One day, he carried a child who became heavier and heavier as the journey went on. When he reached the other bank, the child revealed himself to be Jesus himself, carrying the weight of the world.Through this gesture, Saint Christopher was given his mission: to carry Christ, and to remind all believers that their role is also to bring Jesus into their lives and actions.
