Oh Saint Matthew,

You who heard Christ's call

While you were still sitting at your desk as a tax collector,

You left behind your old life

To follow Jesus with an open and generous heart.

St Matthew,

Help us to respond to God's call in our lives,

To leave behind our worldly attachments

And embrace the path of conversion and faith.

Intercede for us with Jesus,

That we may be devoted disciples,

Witnesses to the Good News of the Gospel

And instruments of divine mercy in the world.

Inspire us to live with integrity and justice,

To seek the truth and to share God's love

With all those we meet in our lives.

Saint Matthew,

Pray for us that we may

Grow in God's grace,

Serve with humility and devotion,

And finally reach the eternal joy of the Kingdom of heaven.
