Saint Roman of Antioch, also known as Roman the Melodist or Roman the Singer, is one of the most significant figures in early Christian history. Saint Odon of Cluny, born around 878 in Tours and died on 18 November 942, was one of the major figures of monastic reform in medieval Europe. As the second abbot of Cluny, he left his mark on history through his dedication to spiritual regeneration, monastic discipline and the centralisation of the Cluniac movement. His exemplary life, scholarship and piety helped to revitalise monastic life and strengthen the influence of the Church against a backdrop of social and political transformation.
