A Prayer for Each Day
Lord my God,
On this new day that You have given me,
I come to You with an open heart,
Eager to seek You, to love You and to serve You.
Thank you for the gift of life,
For this breath that You renew within me,
For every moment, even the hidden ones,
Where Your presence accompanies me in silence.
Today, Lord,
I entrust to You my thoughts, my words and my actions.
Guide my steps in truth,
Keep my heart at peace,
And enlighten my mind in the decisions I must make.
Give me strength in trials,
Patience in difficulties,
Humility in success,
And trust in uncertainty.
Teach me to love as You love,
To forgive without counting the cost,
To listen attentively,
And to act with kindness.
May I recognise Your presence
In the little things of daily life,
In simple encounters,
In joys as well as in sorrows.
Lord,
Protect those I love,
Support those who suffer,
Comfort those who weep,
And lift up those who have fallen.
Make me an instrument of Your peace,
A witness to Your light,
And a bearer of hope for those I meet today.
And when evening comes,
Grant me the grace to give You thanks
For all that I have experienced,
In the confidence that You were with me at every moment.
Lord,
I place this day in your hands,
With faith, with surrender,
And with love.
